Nicola McCartan

Nicola is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Association of Taxation Technicians. She has been working in Tax for over 20 years now, but time flies when having fun! Nicola started her career working for one of the “Big Four” accountancy firms and, before joining us here, she was the Tax Manager at a local accountancy firm for 12 years. Nicola has extensive experience in all areas of taxation including income and corporation tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. Nicola enjoys helping clients with all areas of tax, helping to make tax rules easier to understand, and dealing with HMRC on their behalf.

Nicola has three children (all boys) so doesn’t get a lot of spare time. But when she does, Nicola enjoys reading (crime mainly) and taking her dog for long walks. She also loves a pub quiz!

Once, Nicola got a phone call from a gentleman asking could he book a taxi to the airport. Nicola stated he had the wrong number. He said to her, “no, I got your number from your husband”. Anyway, it turned out that Nicola’s husband had told this gentleman his wife was a “tax adviser”, unfortunately he heard “taxi driver”!
